Quadruple Nelson and the joke.

David Shepherd used to stand on one leg when ever the cricket score for a team or a player was at 111 or multiples there of. One of those superstitions, and like most the story was always a bit fanciful, no hard and fast facts but it made for a little bit of entertainment to see the umpire on one leg, I wonder if a batting team has thought we will play this out for a little while and see how long he can stand like this and not bother to get a run?

Anyway the stadium has now reached a capacity of 1,111 and yes I am fully aware not a multiple of 111 but you can see the similarities so lets run with it. It also gave me the opportunity to go back into my memories of cricket, so not all bad.

Now for the Joke.

GROUCHO (to woman seated next to him at an elegant dinner party): Would you sleep with me for ten million dollars?

WOMAN (giggles and responds): Oh, Groucho, of course I would.

GROUCHO; How about doing it for fifteen dollars?

WOMAN (indignant): Why, what do you think I am?

GROUCHO: That’s already been established. Now we’re just haggling about the price.

This is what is happening with the sale of #MyLegoStadium on ebay, Would someone pay £10,000, I doubt it, but if they did I would sell. We all have our price it is just the haggling, If someone can pay millions for a painted blue square canvass in the name of art, I am sure someone has 10 grand to give me for a collection of Lego bricks which I have built into a stadium.

I am actually awaiting an offer. It won't be the ten grand, but at least it will be the starting point as to where I can be indignant.

I would build 500 seats and I have built 500 more.

So I finally got around to setting MyLegoStadium up in the garage. It had been in different locations in the bedrooms upstairs, and my main worry was that each time I set it up and put it away again, something would get damaged, or heaven forbid get dropped. So now apart from the spiders and the dust, and a dust sheet will solve the latter, it is in it's current not to be moved home.

As you can see from the photo there is a lot more to do, I had since being in lockdown been able to work a bit more on the end stand. By building the end stand and making a basic start on the corner stand this has brought the capacity above 1,000 to be precise 1,046.

I can't look a gift horse in the mouth, as our lass bought me the table, which I managed to convince her I needed two, and it's a good job I did as it wouldn't have been wide enough, but I had measured and it had needed to be 8ft long, and as with most tables they were 6ft, so currently the stand if on display is poking over the edge. My next job is to  convince our lass about getting two more tables. It will effectively take over the garage, so I best choose my moment.

I have also, thanks to finding three base plates I had forgot about made a exploratory starts on the dug out side of the stadium. I have started working back to front, originally I was going to do all arches the same as Lime street station, but started playing around with the bricks above. Things to consider is the strength to carry smaller base plates for the next level which is balanced on the back structure, I also have to figure out a way to put the dug out in at the front, as they will have different larger seating compared to the normal 2x2 seats which seem scarce at the moment as it is. I have looked at 3x3 technic chairs which give that dug out feel.

Latest build, brings capacity up to 908

It's been a strange old world at the moment. So to take my mind off things I revamped the main stand, I have always been reluctant to do this, as this was the original part of the stadium and I had the worries of taking it apart and then when I rebuilt it, not being happy with the results and thus having ruined what I had done already.

I won't put every photo up, as I did take a series of photos as I was rebuilding the stand, feel free to follow me on Twitter and look through the timeline. I did during the process get what I describe as "Lego Finger" my index finger on my right hand became sore from taking apart and pushing back down all the bricks. A small price to pay in the current circumstances.

The results I would say are fantastic, the only sad new is that I have now run out of bricks. I had well over a 1,000 filler bricks, and they were eaten up right away. so the build is on hold for the stadium, and as it does come at an expense it may be a few months delay, as there is bigger priorities at the moment.

What I will be doing though, is looking through the boxes of lego sets that I got, but never had the patience to sort. There is one thing about self isolation, I have been able to get a lot of jobs done, which I have always found an excuse to do something else. Even if we didn't go out, there was always some sport on the television. the garden has never looked so sorted.
